How can we help?
Role Orientation: Field Tech
1. Purpose of the Role

2. Primary Duties
- Deliver LENS (and any other approved tech-level services) as ordered by NPs or supervising clinicians and according to protocols.
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment; ensure cleanliness and proper function.
- Take and document basic data (e.g., vitals, standardized measures, session notes within template).
- Educate clients briefly about what to expect from tech-level services (within training).
- Coordinate scheduling, reminders, or follow-up related to tech services (within role).
- Document each session accurately in the EHR using the correct template.
- Communicate clinically relevant observations to the supervising NP/clinician.
3. Key Systems & Tools
- EHR for documenting sessions
- LENS system and related hardware/software
- Other tools (e.g., RightEye, screening tools) if applicable
- Internal messaging systems for communication with NPs and therapists
4. Supervision & Chain of Command
- Clinical direction: NP / supervising clinician who orders protocols
- Operational oversight: site lead or COO
- Risk/safety escalation: supervising NP, Clinical Director, or immediate supervisor
You should have regular contact with your supervising NP/clinician to review protocols and client progress.
5. Scope & Boundaries
You can:
- Execute protocols as written and trained
- Observe and report client responses and concerns
- Provide basic, scripted education about the services you deliver
You must not:
- Change protocols on your own without NP/clinician direction
- Interpret results as diagnoses or make promises about outcomes
- Provide psychotherapy or medication advice
6. RHC & Behavioral Health Connection
- Many of the clients you work with will be RHC clients or referred by RHC providers.
- Your work often happens “incident to” an RHC visit or NP order.
- Your documentation supports the overall RHC encounter and clinical decision-making.
7. Success in This Role Looks Like
- Protocols are followed accurately and consistently.
- Rooms and equipment are clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Documentation is complete, clear, and on time.
- NPs and therapists trust your observations and communication.
- Clients feel informed, safe, and supported during tech-level services.
